Imphal, August 29 2011:
Health Minister L Jayantakumar has stated that maximum efforts are being put in to remove all the confusions and obscurities about the position of JN Hospital doctors, nurses and para-medical staff who have been absorbed in JNIMS.
Jayantakumar was responding to a call attention motion raised by MLA N Mangi about the insecure and obscure position of doctors, nurses and para-medical staff who were earlier working under the State Health Services but now absorbed in JNIMS.
Raising the call attention motion, Mangi stated that the number of JN Hospital doctors, nurses and para-medical staff who have been accommodated in JNIMS was 270 .
These doctors and staff have not been given their monthly salaries regularly nor are they allowed to draw their GPF besides denying retirement benefits, Mangi iterated.
However, their colleagues who joined JNIMS directly have been getting their salaries and all other benefits regularly.
Reminding the efforts and responsibility shared by JN Hospital doctors and staff in the health care system of Manipur and subsequent efforts to establish a medical college, Mangi asserted that it would not be right to imperil the service condition of those doctors and staff.
In his reply, Jayantakumar claimed that the Government has been working hard to bring a solution to the issue.
To resolve the issue, JNIMS Director and Health Director have been meeting regularly.
According to rules, those absorbed in JNIMS should be taken as retired from service.
As the existing problem can be solved if the same problem is entrusted to an administrative officer, the Government is working to appoint an administrative officer who would also be given the charge of DDO, Jayantakumar stated.
