Senapati, June 21 2022:
Workers and supporters of Naga People's Front (NPF) of 48-Mao AC tendered their resignation en masse on Tuesday.
The NPF unit announced the move in a press release signed by its president Kio Alexander, and secretary K Hekha Chouba.
Earlier in a letter addressed to NPF central office Dr Shiirhozelie Liezietsu, on March 22, the Mao NPF unit expressed its strong dissatisfaction over what it termed as a serious breach of principle by the party leadership and urged for remedial measures to restore the faith and confidence of the people in the party.
The letter reportedly mentioned documentary evidence on the manipulative role of TR Zeliang, the then leader of the NPF legislature party, Nagaland, which it said, was a blatant violation of the party's principles.
On the other hand, their elected candidate L Dikho, who was publicly named by the president of NPF central HQ in the SI No 1 in the party's seniority list of Manipur state unit and, hence, eligible for a ministerial position, was first unceremoniously relegated to SI No 2, and to rub salt into the wound, he was pushed out from SI No 2 without even the courtesy of an explanation.
The NPF Mao unit further said that its leader and candidate who won the election against all odds with the unit's unstinted support were ditched without any rhyme, reason or explanation.
The NPF 48-Mao AC's press release said that the unit has been patiently waiting a sincere response from the NPF central leadership, but to no avail to date.
"Therefore, with great sense of sadness, the office bearers and workers of 48-Mao AC under Senapati Division, Manipur declared their resignation en masse from the Naga People's Front after being convinced that the party leadership is beyond correction.
As they continue in office without any serious introspection and amendments, realization has dawned upon them that it would be folly to continue to be members and functionaries of the party which they had served with faith and confidence", the release said.
