Heroin worth Rs 2.76 crore recovered

Imphal, June 21 2022:
Khuga Battalion of IGAR (South) along with Manipur Police recovered 690 gram heroin approximately worth Rs 2.76 crore near BP-39 of Suangphu village in Churachandpur district on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that based on specific input of transshipment of narcotics substance near BP 39, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation and observed suspicious movement of smugglers near Suangphu village.
On being challenged by the security forces, the smugglers taking advantage of darkness fled into the jungles towards Indo Myanmar Border.
On thorough search of the area, 690 gram heroin was recovered in 55 soap cases.
The recovered narcotics have been handed over to Sanaikot Police Station for further investigation.
