Imphal, June 21 2022:
All India Mahila Congress Committee (AIMCC) secretary Lhingkim S Haokip from Manipur was briefly arrested by Delhi police on Tuesday while taking part in Congress party's protest against Agnipath recruitment scheme as well as against repeated summoning of party leader Rahul Gandhi by Enforcement Directorate on National Herald case.
Lhingkim Haokip was detained at Narela police station for a few hours.
Lhingkim informed this daily from New Delhi that Agnipath recruitment scheme brought out by the BJP government very recently will spoil future of entire youth of the country.
It would be a big challenge for youth of the country that they are being recruited only for four years' service in the defence forces without any entitlements and then they will be removed.
This would push youth to the wrong direction, she cautioned and demanded immediate withdrawal of the scheme.
On the other hand, BJP government is Utilising government agencies like Enforcement Directorate to summon Rahul Gandhi repeatedly for questioning on a case totally unrelated to him and such action is totally uncalled for in politics, she said, adding that BJP's activities will give a big blow to democracy.
She also asked BJP to stop activities akin to taking political revenge against Opposition leaders.
Young Congress leaders like Alka Lamba, All India Mahila Congress president Neta D'Souza and other leaders took part in the protest and shouted different slogans against the BJP government and blocked the roads.
After brief scuffle with police, some of the protestors were detained at Narela police station for a few hours, Lhin-gkim informed.
