ICAR organises awareness programme for farmers

Indian Council of Agricultural Research Complex for North Eastern Region (ICAR-NEH) Manipur Centre organised an awareness programme on "Efficient and Balanced use of fertilizers (including Nano Urea)" at its complex at Lamphelpat today.
As per a press release by ICAR, Manipur Centre, Telem Dara Singh, Secretary, Kisan Sangha-Manipur Prant and Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-Manipur Centre graced the programme as the chief guest and president respectively.
During the opening remark,T Dara Singh stressed on the importance of judicious use of fertilizers for saving the soil and the environment.
He appealed to the farmers to avail the benefits of the awareness programme and utilise the knowledge and impart it to the farming community.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh highlighted the importance and scope of Nano Urea as a solution of the present urea scarcity in the State.
The successful implementation of Nano urea application using agricultural drones by the ICAR-KVK, Imphal was also addressed by him.
As a part of the campaign, awareness programme on efficient and balanced use of fertilizers, Nano Urea scope and importance, crop residue management and soil testing-soil health card and its significance were deliberated to the farmers by Dr T Basanta Singh, Dr Lydia Zimik, S Gunamani Singh and Dr L Kanta Singh from the ICAR centre.
Altogether, 35 farmers attended the awareness programme along with the staff of ICAR-Manipur Centre.
The programme ended with the Nano Urea input distribution ceremony to the participating farmers, added the release.
