PREPAK condoles demise of 'Major' Sanju

Imphal, August 20 2022: The proscribed People's Revolution ary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and its armed wing Red Army have expressed deep condolences on the demise of outfit's former Interim Council member 'Major' Sanju Oinam and shared pain and sorrow of the bereaved family.

According to a PREPAK statement, 'Major' Sanju Oinam alias Pheijao alias Premjit alias Athouba succumbed to an illness after brief treatment in a hospital on August 18 .

The statement issued by its charge de affairs of publicity & propaganda Leibaak Ngakpa Luwang informed that Major Sanju was born on April 16, 1976 as the first among six children (four sons and two daughters) of late Oinam Saratchandra Meitei and Oinam Ongbi Sanahanbi Leima of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.

He studied at Regular English School, Kwakeithel till class IX and passed class X from Kha Imphal high school, Haobam Marak.

After completing pharmacist course at Patna in Bihar, Sanju started helping his family in financial matters.

From very young age, Sanju had deep interest in sports and even won medals at state and national levels in Karate discipline.

He was also an executive member of Naharol Yaipha Lamjingkol Club, Haobam Maram and did many social works in his locality.

From the early part of 1994, Sanju started working for PREPAK as overground worker but was arrested by Manipur police commandos in July, 1995, slapped NSA and spent 14 months in Imphal central jail.

After coming out from jail, Sanju contacted party leaders and resumed working for the outfit but he was arrested twice by police commandos and spent eight months in prison in 1996 and five months in 1997.He was arrested twice by security forces as well but granted bail.

Unable to bear frequent torture by police and security forces, Sanju left home and started working full-time for the outfit.

He completed Red Army's basic military training in July 2003 in the 16th batch.

After serving in the Red Army for sometimes, Sanju became publicity officer of the department of publicity and propaganda of the outfit.

Till his death, Sanju shouldered the charge of looking after the department under the supervision of party's polit bureau, the statement said, adding that Sanju was also an additional representative of the outfit in different sub committees of Coordination Committee (CorCom) .
