Suspected Kuki militants rob van on NH-2

One Tata Magic van was robbed of Rs 40,000 in cash at gun point by suspected armed Kuki militants on Saturday somewhere between Motbung and Sapermeina along Imphal-Dimapur road under Saparmeina Police Station.
Talking to media persons, the victim, Maibam Lakhsana (30) of Nambol Maibam Chingmang said that he along with one Tata Magic driver from his locality, Arambam Ishworchandra went to Saparmeina and Kangpokpi on Saturday to deliver Kangla food items when the looting took place.
On their way towards home, one black Bolero jeep without registration number overtook them and blocked their way at a place between Sapermeina and Motbung at around 9.45 am.
The armed cadres then robbed them of more than Rs 40,000 in cash at gun point and later freed them, the victim said.
Lakhsana further said that he works as an agent of Kangla Food Products.
He said he will face difficult problem in his business for the next one year and appealed to the authorities to stop such incidents in future.
He did not file a complaint at Sapermeina Police Station in connection with the incident since he was afraid to drive back to the police station.
But he said the complaint will be lodged at Imphal Police Station.
Lakhsana also appealed to the Government to deploy security forces along the national highways to protect commuters.
