Food safety officer, Chandel district have named few food items from Myanmar declared unhygienic.
The food items are mikko nutritious cereal, flying tiger (can fish), milk crown � fresh milk snacks, Sulay fried fish, Sulay shrimp paste prawn, etc.
Besides tobacco products are also found to be very hazardous.
He appealed the people to be cautious about the consumable items.
Among the listed food items Mikko is considered to be favourite and many people are found to be consuming.
The food items are found to have violated the use of colouring and preservatives in inappropriate manner.
Besides the labelling are not done in the international norm when a product pass through another country for sale and distribution.
It is also learnt that anyone found selling the banned food items are punishable under food safety act and could be fined after producing the accused at the court of Additional District Magistrate who is an executing officer.
So far many retailers and distributer have been booked yet the banned items are finding routes due to sheer ignorance by businessmen.
Matter of fact such unsafe food had affected many people unknowingly and is a big concern.
