Kargil Vijay Diwas observed in Imphal

Imphal, July 26 2015:
Manipur Government observed the Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday to pay homage to those Indian Army soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the Operation Vijay of 1999 .
The function was held at the 1st Manipur Rifles banquet hall.
Chief Minister O Ibobi attended the event as the chief guest.
Several dignitaries were also present in the function.
In his speech, the Chief Minister stated that Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the valour of Indian Army and their victory over Pakistan.
Ibobi cited that among the martyrs who fought the Kargil War, seven were from Manipur�Lance Naik Kaleshor, Sepoys Charles Nicolas Moyon, Beningvir Moyon, Zamkholal Vaiphei, Kapani Asuli and Daiokho Mao, and Lance Naik Birneithang.
"The heroic deeds of these soldiers have left a path for us to walk on with our heads holding high.
These martyrs deserve to be honoured by all," Ibobi stated.
The Chief Minister urged all to take a firm stand together to counter those elements threatening the sovereignty and integrity of the nation and also to safeguard its unity.
