Imphal, July 26 2015:
MLA Th Shyamkumar has clarified that he was trying to expose the Home Department's tactics to hoodwink the public when he asked why the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood should be punished after judicial enquiry when no such action was initiated until there were strong public demands for punishment of the police personnel involved.
Responding to the demand of the JAC constituted in connection with the killing of Robinhood to come up with a clarification regarding the particular statement, Shyamkumar said that the young student was killed by firing rubber bullets directly at the group of protesting students.
"What I meant was the Home Department was enacting a drama when I said in an interview with a local cable network why the guilty police personnel should be punished after a judicial whereas no prompt action was initiated after the student was killed," Shyamkumar said.
"If I said anything offensive during the interview, I beg for forgiveness", he added.
