Saitu MU calls for fighting drug menace

Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen has called for curbing drug menace in Kangpokpi district by taking a collective stand against drugs while supporting the government's war on drugs campaign.
He was attending a felicitation ceremony organised in his honour by civil bodies of Saitu Gamphazol and Saparmeina areas under Saitu AC at SP Ngaimun village on Thursday.

Saitu Gamphazol Area Women's Organisation, Saitu Gamphazol Area Youth's Organisation, Saparmeina Area Villages' Association, Saparmeina Area Women's Association, and United Saparmeina Youth's Club also attended the function.
KBC Centre Church Salem Saparmeina pastor reverend Henkhomang Tuboi led the thanksgiving and blessing prayer for the MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, Haokholet Kipgen expressed happiness over the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the constituency after the state assembly election and thanked all the people of Saitu AC, especially the womenfolk for their contribution during the election.
It is an indication of change, he said while assuring of treating the all people of his constituency without any discrimination and partiality.
"Sadar Hills is the best place in Manipur in all aspects, especially in water resources, as it has been popularly known as the best water resource district in the state.
But it could turn into the worst very soon if we failed to preserve and protect the resourceful environment.
If we continue to fail in preserving our environment, it will not be long we get bottles of tears instead of water," the MLA cautioned.
Strongly advocating curb on drug menace and illegal poppy cultivation in Saitu AC, the MLA encouraged the people of Saitu to plant saplings that can serve the society and provide a healthy life to the public.
He said that the three assembly constituencies in Kangpokpi district must come together and take a unanimous and collective decision to declare support to the government's 'War on Drugs' campaign keeping in mind that Kangpokpi district has the largest area under poppy cultivation.
"Being the largest illegal poppy cultivation district is not only a mockery and insult to the people but will also destroy future for our younger generation" the MLA added.
Haokholet Kipgen also said that MLA or minister is not a permanent post for a particular person and as such there should be no partiality in taking up development, rather it should be inclusive and equal for all.
