Golden Sun's packaging unit inaugurated

Golden Sun, a com pany producing preserved and processed indigenous foods, inaugurated its new packaging unit at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, here on Wednesday.
ICAR Imphal joint director I Meghachandra, CAU director of extension professor Ph Ranjit, horticulture & soil conservation additional director K Debdutta Sharma, CAU College of Food Technology dean professor Dr Ng Iboyaima, associate professor Dr Ng Joykumar, CAU College of Agriculture, antomol-ogy head Dr Kh Ibohal and AIR Imphal programme executive Heikrujam Devendro attended the inauguration event as members of the dais.
In his address, Golden Sun proprietor Jenny Okram said that the state and its people have age-old tradition of preserving and processing foods and many of them involved sun drying for several days.
Golden Sun uses machines to dry the products within 7 to 10 hours instead of days and make them available in the market.
As of now, the line of products of the company includes Kiwi, Ushoi, Heiribob (citrus latipes), Rosella, King Chilli, Laiwa and Yongchak (stink bean) among others.
They have also recently added Ngari, Besan and Kangtak in their line of products.
The company's main goal is to make available the indigenous foods of the state throughout the year, Jenny added.
