Tamenglong Bn commemorates Armed Forces Flag Day

Commemorating the Armed Forces Flag Day, Tamenglong Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR (East) organised a motivational lecture and drawing competition for children at Tamenglong town on Wednesday.
According to PRO (Defence) since 1949, December 7 is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought and continue to fight on borders to safeguard the country.
To fulfil their duties, soldiers sacrifice a lot in their lives, the PRO informed, adding, that, the Flag Day brings to the forefront the commitment of looking after the war disabled soldiers, Veer Naris and the families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
The PRO informed that the motivational lecture aimed at identifying the enormous potential in school going children and to spread awareness among the locals, especially children regarding the importance of Armed Forces and invoke feeling of patriotism.
As part of the observance, drawing competition for children was also conducted with the stated objective to provide the opportunity to express ideas and emotions of children through their drawing, the PRO added.
The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony and refreshments the PRO informed, adding that, the locals thanked Assam Rifles for organising the event to shape the future of younger generations and for giving them right direction in their careers.
