Khuraijam Loken calls for efficient execution of MGNREGS works

Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken has appealed to all concerned to take up works of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guaranteed Scheme (MGNREGS) in such a way that it becomes useful assets in future.
The MLA who is also the MGNREGS Imphal West District Chairman made the above appeal while speaking to media persons during a press meet held at his official residence at Babupara today evening.
The press meet was held in connection with the inspection visit of works taken up under MGNREGS which is a Central Government flagship programme.
Loken informed the media persons that he along with Mayang Imphal AC MLA Kongkham Robindro and officials concerned inspected the progress of construction of Gram Panchayats (GP) at Uchiwa, Komlakhong, Laphupat Tera and Phoubakchao under MGNREGS yesterday.
In continuation of such inspection visits, the construction activities of GPs of Iramsiphai, Meijrao, Govindagram and Samusang Santipur in Wangoi AC was checked today, he added.
With regards to the inspection visits, the MLA expressed discontentment that most of the work taken up under MGNREGS have not met the, desired results though some works were carried out properly at certain GP sites.
In view of the above findings, he appealed to all concerned to take up developmental works in such a way that it becomes useful assets of the State and the Nation and make the best use of Government funds for people's welfare.
Regarding the inefficient work, Kh Loken maintained that he has given strict instructions to officials and engineers concerned to carry out the work again to meet the required specifications.
He continued that report will be filed at respective police stations in connection with misappropriation of MGNREGS funds.
Considering the anomalies which have surfaced in case of job card holders, officials concerned have been directed to conduct proper verification and public awareness programmes, he added.
The MLA was accompanied by former Adhakshya of Imphal West Zila Parishad, RK Taruni and District Administration officials.
