Students sensitised on opportunities at HIT Manipur

A day-long sensitisation programme on "Educational Opportunities at HIT Manipur" was held under the aegis of Indian Institute of Information Technology (HIT), Manipur at its Mantripukhri auditorium here on Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, additional chief secretary V Vumlunmang advised the students to explore the wide array of career opportunities in IT sector and contribute their mite in the state's development instead of seeking white collar jobs.
Pointing out that now is the era of information technology and its importance widely acknowledged across the globe, the additional chief secretary also encouraged the student community to acquire B Tech Computer Science and get the best remuneration from the jobs available in the sector.
While expressing regret over absence of Manipuri students at the IIT Manipur where around 234 students are currently pursuing technical studies, Vumlunmang informed that the programme is being organised primarily to make Manipuri students aware about benefits being offered by the institute.
"Let us not only chase after government jobs, but try to foray into the IT sector and contribute our expertise in private sectors and grab the lucrative salary providing sector as well".
HIT Manipur director Krishnan Baskar, while delivering the presidential speech, also urged the students the get the best benefits provided under the Computer Science and B Tech stream wherein one could earn over Rs 15 lakh annually.
The event which was also attended by Department of Information Technology Director N Deben and Education (S) Director L Nandakumar as guests of honour had the participation of students from various institutes of the state.
