Additional Chief Secretary asserts IT sector can bring wealth and prosperity to people

Additional Chief Secretary V Vumlunmang has asserted that the Information Technology sector can bring wealth and prosperity to the people.
He was speaking at a one-day awareness programme on "Educational opportunities at IIIT, Manipur" held at the auditorium of Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur located at Mantripukhri today.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Additional Secretary stated that currently people are living in an IT era and its importance is increasing at a great pace across the globe.
"The most well-known companies in the world right now are IT companies", he said and continued to highlight the security provided by IT jobs while stating that a person who has completed a B Tech Computer Science course will be guaranteed a secure future.
Vumlunmang then rued over the small number of students from Manipur studying at IIIT, Manipur.
He further appealed people to turn to the private sector, specially the IT sector to look for jobs instead of merely waiting for Government jobs.
He concluded his speech by stating that if one is equipped with the proper qualifications, then success will follow naturally.
Giving the presidential speech, Krishnan Bhaskar, Director, IIIT, Manipur also highlighted the job prospects of students who have completed B Tech course in Computer Science and Engineering stream while adding that such students who have passed out from IIIT, Manipur have all received job placements.
In this regard, he added that these students receive an annual salary between 15 lakh to 46 lakh.
As such, he expressed the desire for students of Manipur to avail themselves of these opportunities and job prospects.
If students are concerned about the course fees, then they can avail loan facilities from banks, which can then be paid back after they get a job, he shared.
Aside from this, the concerned Ministry has provided different scholarships for students from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC communities, thereby alleviating their financial burden.
The Director lastly assured that studying at IIIT Manipur will ensure a secure future for students.
The awareness programme was attended by N Deben, Director, Department of Information Technology and L Nandakumar, Director, Education (S) as the guests of honour.
