State records 229 new cases, no fatality

Imphal, September 25 2021:
For the second time this month, the state reported zero new fatalities due to Covid-19 on Saturday after September 7 while on the other hand, the positivity rate saw a marginal rise with 229 new cases reported out of 3032 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.55 per cent against 6.77 per cent recorded on Friday.
Though the positivity rate is below 8 per cent, Kamjong (16.7 per cent), Imphal West (10.7 per cent), Ukhrul (9.6 per cent), and Imphal East (9.3 per cent) recorded high positivity rate.
The active caseload rose to 2084 out of which 435 (20.87 per cent) are in home isolation, 649 (31.14 per cent) in CHICs, 608 (29.17 per cent) in CCCs and 392 (18.81 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 79 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 103 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS though it has 167 patients.
On the other hand, there are six patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Saturday evening, 550 beds including 109 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening 2871 beds are available in different Covid Care Centres and 378 beds (25 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 90,274 positive cases and 1469 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month recorded 5741 new cases and 61 fatalities out of which 1413 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 229 new positive cases included 228 people (133 male & 95 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (6), JNIMS (12) and other testing centres (211) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (44), Imphal West (129), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (7), Ukhrul (22), Churachandpur (6), Chandel (4), Senapati (4), Tengnoupal (2) and Kamjong (4) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact acing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 174 patients were discharged from home isolation (54), RIMS (9), JNIMS (3), CCCs (95) and CHICs (13).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,19,674 (general population - 1,15,404 and CAPF personnel - 4,270).Number of recovered cases is 1,15,747 (general population.
- 1,11,545 and CAPF personnel - 4,202) and number of active cases is 2,084 (general population - 2,021 and CAPF personnel - 63) .
The recovery rate is 96.72 per cent.
The cumulative death toll is at 1843.In the last 24 hours, 983 D-type and 209 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
On Friday, 9036 vaccine doses were administered which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,18,259 which included 4,42,332 fully vaccinated people.
As of Friday, 1,06,584 eligible people are yet to get the second shot of Covid vaccine.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,071), Imphal East (26,470), Thoubal (9310), Churachandpur (9997), Kangpokpi (2744), Tamenglong (3255), Bishnupur (8970), Senapati (2190), Ukhrul (2688), Kakching (6336), Chandel (2269), Noney (1059), Tengnoupal (1033), Jiribam (1015), Kamjong (834) and Pherzawl (433).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (613), Imphal East (433), Thoubal (168), Churachandpur (157), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (186), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (32), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal(l3), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,567 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,093 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,15,112 tests per million population against the national average of 4,02,140 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3032 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.55 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.29 per cent.
