A team of police and commando personnel led by Sangboi Gangte, Additional Superintendent of Police (LO), Moreh Police, pushed back a large number of traders from Myanmar plying on either side of the road leading to Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 and Moreh Keithel.
A local shopkeeper stated that the Indian traders were being driven out of business by the foreign traders from Myanmar as a result of the cheap rates their products sold for.
On the other side, a Myanmar trader bemoaned the current unstable state of their country and explained that they were merely trying to eke out a living by selling their wares under such precarious circumstances.
It may be mentioned that a skirmish also broke out between the shopkeepers as disgruntled Indian shopkeepers tried to push back the foreign traders.
