IMC asks vendors to collect cards

While informing that all preparations for reopening the three Khwairamband markets along with the Temporary market from September 27 have been completed, Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) has urged the vendors to collect their respective vendor cards from its office.
Announcing this to newspersons at its office here on Saturday, IMC chairperson Kiyam Chandrakumar said that after the markets reopen, the vendors will be allowed to sit at a distance on 6ft from one another, as indicated by the colour painted.
For ensuring strict adherence of this norm, vendors will be provided with cards highlighting the seating arrangements made in alternate manner.
The cards will be distributed to the vendors at IMC office on Sunday.
"The seating arrangements will be based on the colour of the cards possessed by the vendors.
Those with red-coloured cards will be allowed to operate on Monday and Thursday; green-colour card holders on Tuesday and Friday and those with yellow-colour cards on Wednesday and Saturday.
Anyone found sitting without the cards will be detained and strict action will be taken up.
Sundays will be designated as cleaning day for the markets," he informed.
On the other hand, vendors selling fresh produces who are unable to sell all their products on a single day, will be allowed to sell for two consecutive days before stopping their business for four days, he added.
Regarding the illegal parking of vehicles in front of hospitals, shops, hotels, banks and clinics in areas under the jurisdiction of IMC; Chandrakumar said that the Corporation will be taking up Strict measures, including legal action ifthe activities continue.
He also commented on the illegal installation of "No Parking" signs in such areas, and cautioned that anyone found doing so without the permission of IMC will have their licenses revoked.
The chairperson then commented on the inconveniences faced by IMC staff in collecting wastes from households under solid waste management and urged the people to extend their support to the start in this regard.
