Wushu Assn-Ukhrul district accuses State Govt of 'discrimination' in providing job

The Wushu Association, Ukhrul district has accused the State Government of discrimination in providing Government service to a former Tangkhul athlete despite many achievements.
The association in a press statement, said that Ningshung Hungyo of Khambi village, Kamjong district had won many medals in the National and international competitions of various disciplines viz-Wushu, Jeet Kune-do, Kick-boxing, Kungfu etc.
Ningshung led the Indian team at the Jeet Kune-Do Championship-2019 held in Dhaka and won a gold medal to end his National and international career in a high, it said.
He won a gold medal in the All Indian Wushu Championship 2004 when he was just 17 years old after winning a gold medal in the 2nd North East Open Kungfu Championship and carried forward his career by winning gold medal at the 11th National KickBoxing Championship held in Punjab, silver at the 14th National Wushu Championship in Lucknow etc, it said.
Ningshung led the Manipur State team as a coach at the Jeet Kune-Do Federation Cup 2018 hosted at Srinagar besides leading the State team as a coach at the 3rd National Open Karate-Do Championship held at Guwahati in 2019, it said.
He had participated at the National Wushu Judge Seminar held in 2013 at NSNIS, Patiala and was selected as a technical staff at the 1st North East Olympic Games held in 2018, it continued.
Despite all the achievements and laurels he had brought to the State, Ningshung Hungyo has not been provided a Government service till date while many of his juniors from different disciplines have been provided Government services, the association said.
One international judo and jeet kune-do athlete who was part of the State team in an event wherein Ningshung was a National referee was approved for appointment as a PET in the recent Cabinet meeting, it added and expressed regret that the Tangkhul athlete who has been seeking for a job is left out once again.
