3 'K' cadres held

Troops of 1st Assam Rifles based in Tuensang in Nagaland under the aegis headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended three NSCN (Khaplang) cadres near Tuensang - Pangsha - Noklak road tri-junction and recovered arms, ammunition and war-like stores, said the PRO of IGAR-North based in Kohima.
During the operation the party seized one AK 56 rifle, 226 rounds of ammunition and many other warlike stores.The incident happened on June 8, the source added today.
The Assam Rifles source then stated that by apprehending the heavily armed NSCN-K cadres by the AR troops under the leadership of Subedar Dinesh Chandra the Assam Rifles had prevented the likelihood of inter factional clash in general area Noklak.
Also, earlier on June 7, troops of 6 Assam Rifles and 164 Naga TA located at Tizit, Mon district of Nagaland conducted a joint operation with the presence of police personnel in general area Sangsa (Tizit).
During the search operation, one NSCN (Kitovi-Khole) cadre was apprehended along with a pistol and live ammunition.
On investigation, the cadre was identified as self styled Lieutenant Phowang Konayk, age - 22 years, a resident of Chenwoyu village.
The apprehended cadre along with recovered items was handed over to Namsa Police station on that day itself, said the Assam Rifles source today.
