Imphal, June 12 2012:
Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has threatened to halt transportations of FCI goods to the state if the order issued by General Manager (Region) FCI, Regional Office (Nagaland and Manipur) for transportation of goods from FCI godown in Dimapur to Jiribam is not made equitable to all transporters.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Ng Haridas, General Secretry of TDC demanded review of the order issued by General Manager (Region) FCI, Regional Office (Nagaland and Manipur) with regard to the movement of goods for the month of June and warned of putting a halt on transportation of FIC goods.
Reacting to the clarification given by the authority concerned that the few transport orders were issued along Imphal- Jiribam road in consideration of the deplorable condition of roads and bridges, as unreasonable, Haridas asserted that the whole responsibility of any untoward incidents along the route had always been taken by the transport contractors themselves and FCI stays away from such responsibilities.
Recalling how TDC came out boldly to transport FCI goods along NH 37 for the welfare of general public during the three months long economic blockade in the state, Haridas observed that FCI should not act one sided if it cares for the people of the state and believes in providing sufficient amount of rice, sugar and wheat to them.
