Black day observance begins

The observance of Black Day, commemorating the burning of Puya (Royal Chronicle of Manipur) started today at Nambol Regular School, Bishnupur district.
The black day observance was organised by the International Observation Committee on Puya (ICOP) and would last for three days, reports our correspondent.
Ph Mantri, Controller of Examination, COHSEM, Heisnam Somendro, Councilor, Nambol Municipal Council, Meisnam Kenedy, Principal, Special Regular English School, Moirangthem Naokhomba Meitei, convener, International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba, staff of Nambol Regular School and members of the ICOP attended the black day observation.
Convener of the ICOP, Moirangthem Naokhomba stressed on the need to promote and preserve the sacred text (chronicle), Puya and further called for collective efforts to encourage the use of indigenous texts (Meitei Mayek) .
