Free medical camp at New Samtal

Imphal, January 07 2018:
On 03 Jan 2018, Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a free Medical Camp cum New Year Celebrations at Village New Samtal for the villagers of New Samtal, New Lahjang and Yangnomphai, Chandel Dist which are located close to Indo-Myanmar Border.
On the occasion of New Year, the Sector Commander, HQ 28 Sector Assam Rifles along with Commandant of 19 Assam Rifles visited village New Samtal, located along Indo-Myanmar Border and interacted with the village chiefs and other dignitaries of New Samtal, New Lahjang, Yangnomphai.
The Commander addressed the villagers and conveyed the greetings of Christmas and New Year on behalf of entire force personnel of Assam Rifles.
The ceremony was started by opening of Medical Camp for the poor villagers by the Commander.
The Medical Officer of 19 Assam Rifles facilitated the treatment of poor villagers and free medicines were distributed to needy people seeking medical treatment.
Total 96 women, 56 men, 76 children and 11 infants were treated for their ailments and the villagers were also advised on keeping good health by Medical Officer.
The villagers were also addressed by the Unit Commandant who briefed them about the benefits of various Government Schemes and pre training being imparted by the unit for the welfare of youth in the area.
Apart from conducting Medical Camp for local villagers, 19 Assam Rifles also organised a New Year Celebration for the local villagers at village New Samtal.
The villagers participated with great enthusiasm and happiness with their family at the event.
Various stalls viz food court, eatables, knowledge court, sport etc were displayed for people to enjoy and celebrate their New Year happiness with each other.
The school children were distributed stationery items, magazines, sweets by the Commander 28 Sector Assam Rifles and the economically poor families of the village were distributed with food grains followed by a lunch organized for the villagers.
