Imphal, January 07 2018:
CAF&PD and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam donated Rs three lakh from his own pocket to the villagers of Laiching Maipou, Tengnoupal district at a simple function held at his Chajing Mairenkhong residence today.
Speaking at the occasion, Karam Shyam asserted that no force can break or harm Manipur if there is unity among the fraternal communities of the State.
The State Government under Chief Minister N Biren's slogan 'Go to Hills' has been reaching out to different remote corners of the State with the primary objective of uniting all the people with the bond of love and friendship, he said.
To protect and uphold their identities, smaller communities should preserve their cultures and traditions.
It is quite heartening to note that the Maring elders of Laiching Maipou have been steadfastly preserving their culture and traditions.
Shyam said that he was taken aback and surprised when he learnt that no Minister had ever visited Laiching Maipou until the day he visited the village recently for Christmas celebration.
He said that he was gratified on seeing the hospitality of Laiching Maipou villagers.
"As assured during the Christmas celebration, I donated certain amount to help keep the village neat and clean", said the Revenue Minister.
He handed over the sum of Rs three lakh to S Leiyupa, the Khullakpa of Laiching Maipou.
He also decried the alleged undue criticisms made by elected Members as if they are driven by jealousy.
The Congress party's allegation of BJP having nexus with NSCN-IM is highly offensive.
Such statements would not bring harmony and are unbecoming of an elected leader, Shyam remarked.
Construction/repairing of roads and drains of Langthabal AC would be completed within three years and all other development works would be completed by 80 to 90 per cent, he assured.
Laiching Maipou villagers presented traditional items to the Minister and other LJP leaders who were present at the gathering.
