Imphal, December 17 2009: Two non-local labourers sleeping at a bed in a rented house at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul together were shot dead by miscreants last night at about 9.40 pm.

With the killing of the two non-locals, at least 27 non-locals had been killed by miscreants who also inflicted injuries to six others since the first incident of shooting to dead of a barbar at Sagolband in Imphal west in February 28.The killing of the two non-local labourers took place two days after the killing of a grocery item hawker on last Tuesday.

Imphal West Senior SP, L Kailun has termed the the gunmen as "coward people" and appealed the people to co-operate with the police in hunting out the culprits behind the series of murder of non-locals.

One of the slain men was a resident of Drama village of Bihar's Motihari district identified as Jogender Ram (50) while the other was identified as Subhas Yadav (30), son of Rujal Yadav of Cachar Chingthong Leikai of Assam.

Both were killed by pumping bullets to their heads.

The gunmen shot dead the victims from point blank range at the bad where they sleep together around 9.40 pm and remained un-notice till this morning when a woman entered to the house and look at when the two failed to wake up.

Locals believed that gunmen intruded into the house by breaking the bamboo wall and shot dead them at the heads at blank-points as they could hear some sounds of gun firing last night at about 9.40 pm.

A hole of around three square feet was found on the back side of the house where locals as well as police suspected gunmen entered to shot dead.

The two dead bodies were found lying in a poll of blood at the bed.

Jogender and Subhash were the 26th and 27th victims of attacks to non-locals in Manipur by suspected militants since February this year.

Six other had escaped life attempt bids of the gunmen.

With regard to the incident, senior SP of Imphal West district said to this newspaper that the killing is an act of those coward people.

The act should be condemned by all and urged for people's co-operation in finding out the killers.

He further informed that police has started precautionary measures to check further happening of the incident.

Relief camps for the non-locals have been opened and around 70 of them have been kept in the camp.

Frisking for checking intrusion of gunmen in Imphal areas have also been intensified apart from intensifying patrolling of the state security forces.
