Major General CA Krishnan has taken over as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) from Major General A K Choudhary, AVSM, SM, VSM, today at a simple ceremony held at the Headquarters of IG AR (South) at Mantripukhri.
Major General C A Krishnan arrived here with his wife Mrs Sandhya Krishnan from, New Delhi on 13 Dec to assume command of IGAR (South).
Major General C A Krishnan is an alumni of National Defence college and graduate of the DSSC, Wellington.
He has commanded an operational HQ in J&K and has held many distinguished command and staff appointments of the Indian Army.
He is a highly qualified officer who has been handpicked for the hot seat and the coveted command of one of the important formations of Assam Rifles, said a press release from PRO Assam Rifles.
IGAR(S) at Mantripukhri is responsible for the security environ of major portions of Manipur.

It also hailed Major General A K Choudhary, AVSM, SM, VSM as a thorough professional, a visionary and dynamic soldier during whose command the IGAR (South) attained new pinnacles of glory.
As he is departing, Major General AK Choudhary, appealed to the populace of Manipur to come forward and participate in the peace-process for a new path towards peace, prosperity and tranquility.
He was also grateful to all the elements of society, government machinery and the elite media of Manipur for their unstinted support, love and affection.
The General and Mrs.Madhuri Choudhary were given a warm farewell on their departure from Mantripukhri.
He congratulated the new IGAR(S) on handing over the prestigious baton and bade him good-luck for his tenure in Manipur.
