trongly decrying reported attempt to abduct one Thangjam Ibomcha of Khonghampat Awang Leikai from his residence by two unidentified persons, a protest demonstration was staged today at Khonghampat community hall under the aegis of the Khonghampat Laikon Lairembi Nupi Marup.
Two unidentified armed persons tried to abduct Ibomcha (55) s/o Th Bheiygo from his house at about 7 pm of April 1 .
The armed persons made the audacious attempt when Ibomcha was together with many other family members including his wife Modhubala and son Philibus.
The armed persons insisted Ibomcha to come along with them saying their 'elders' want to talk with him.
To this, Ibomcha maintained that he could not anywhere.
This resulted in some scuffle between the unidentified persons and Ibomcha.
Soon after, the armed persons hurriedly left the scene asking Ibomcha to come to KK Nganba.
It is reported that Ibomcha is a Section Officer in PWD.
Decrying the attempt to abduct Ibomcha without giving any reason, the Khonghampat Laikon Lairembi Nupi Marup staged a protest demonstration today.
They put up placards which read as "Give up the practice of abduction at gun point", "Resolve misunderstanding/dispute through peaceful talk", "Don't weigh human life with money", "We want peace", "Don't abduct people without giving reason", etc.
Talking to media persons by the sideline of the protest movement, Ibomcha's wife Modhubala denounced the attempt to abduct her husband at gun point.
She also decried the act of creating fear psychosis by such activities.
She further appealed to all concerned not to repeat such activities and also to own and explain the act of April 1 .
Before this incident, there was no case of any monetary demand, threat or phone calls from any quarter either in connection with PWD office or personal matters, Modhubala said.
