All set for special cultural show on R-Dday: Dr Sobita

In connection with the upcoming Republic Day celebration, Directorate of Arts and Culture Department, Government of Manipur has made necessary arrangements for special cultural shows.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Dr Sobita, Director of Arts and Culture Department, informed that with an aim to bring unity among the people of various communities residing in Manipur, a number of cultural troupes from different parts of the state have been invited for participation in the 64th Republic day parade.
Apart from that, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would unveil two cultural pillars; one at the front gate of Arts and Culture Directorate and the other at Bheigachandra Open Air Theatre.
The main objective of installing the two pillars with cultural and traditional encryptions representing the entire communities is to symbolize peace and unity among hill and plain people, Sobita said.
She informed that since its in 1980, the Directorate has been taking care to preserve various age-old monuments including that of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Canchipur and some portions of Kangla Fort and Sanathong under the Manipur Ancient & Historical Monument and Archeological Sites and Remains Act-1979 .
