CCpur gears up for grand R-day celebration

Amidst boycott-call, the district administration Churachandpur has lined-up a grand Republic Day celebration with the intention of involving and impressing the masses under the theme 'Proud to be Indian' .
Besides the regular march-past contingents, stalls and the newly introduced Tableau, a photo gallery to match the day's theme which will depict images of the nation, the state and the district will be erected for the first time, according to the Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus.
Photos of post-Independence achievements in the field of Science and Technology, Defence, Infrastructure, Sports, Arts and Culture at the national level, state level and district level will be on display along with images from 'Incredible Manipur,' eminent personalities.
A special section will also be reserved for the district to display some of its incomparable images, she said.
A village level competition on cleanliness and presentation or depiction of the National flag has also been announced by the administration drawing a huge response.
Around fifty-villages have so far enrolled for the competition, she said.
As cash award of Rs 10,000, Rs, 5,000 and Rs.3,000 was announced for the top three villages, some villages have in fact began cleaning up their locality beginning today.
