Army refutes linkage with surrender agents

Imphal, January 21 2013:
The Army has denied having any link with surrender agents as alleged by an outfit.
A PIB (DW) release stated that Haosungbam Surchandra alias Naoba who had been an active cadre of PREPAK had surrendered willingly to the Army on Sep 14 last year.
Having surrendered, his documents have been sent by the Army to the state CID, as is the norm, for verification.
Surchandra had been issued as identification card by the Army for a period of four months which is the time usually taken by state CID authorities to verify the antecedents of any surrenderee.
Army has neither been involved in the alleged activities of Surchandra or his mother nor aware of any individual named Tolen, the PIB statement clarified while adding that showing the Security Forces in poor lights has always been the intention of underground groups and their supporters with vested interests.
This particulars case is totally attributable to personal feuds between various individuals and families of Khurai Chingambam Leikai, it added.
