Imphal, July 06 2011:
Due to the non payment of subsidized amount by the state government to the transporters of fertilizers for transportation, the farmers of the state are likely to face acute rise in price of fertilizers this year.
The rate of the fertilizers(urea) which are to be brought to Manipur from Assam cost around Rs.191.32/ bag at factory rate.
By the time it reaches Manipur the price rose to around Rs.520.But the state government has come up with a solution to lower the price to around Rs.420 giving subsidy to the transportation charge.
The state cabinet has approved for the sanction of Rs.2 crore for the purpose.
But unfortunately the said amount has not been released till now and the farmers fear that they will be spending more on fertilizers this year.
