Imphal, July 06 2011:
Rubbishing the claim of the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi police, Arun Kampani that Chirom Tiken alias Sunil Meitei was a member of the KYKL at the behest of his elder brother in 1993, the proscribed KYKL today asserted that the KYKL was not yet formed in 1993.In a statement, the deputy secretary of the publicity and research department of the outfit, asserted that the KYKL was formed only on April 25, 1994 and hence the claim of the police officer that Sunil joined the KYKL in 1993 is baseless.
Sunil also never underwent military training at the camp of the KYKL in Bangladesh, said the statement but admitted that he was arrested in 2003 by Manipur police on the charge of being a member of the KYKL.
However he was arrested not because he was a member of the armed wing of the KYKL, nor an overground worker or a sympathiser.
He was arrested on the charge that he was using a Maruti van used by the KYKL cadres, the statement said.
Stating that Sunil Meitei is the younger brother of the publicity secretary of KYKL, Langamba Meitei, the statement said taking advantage of this, Sunil took Rs 3.5 lakhs in 2004 from one Langam Dilip of Lilong Haoreibi on the promise of making him a graduate teacher through the quota of the KYKL.
However since Dilip was not selected after the interview he had petitioned the KYKL, said the statement and added that this became known to the outfit only in March/April of 2005 .
On top of this Sunil alias Tiken was also rounded up for collecting money in the name of the KYKL in Monsangei area and soundly beaten up.
All the advices to Tiken not to yearn after wealth without working for it and by misusing the name of the revolutionary movement fell on deaf ears, said the outfit and added that he was punished with a bullet in the leg.
The punishment was given in line with the course of action taken up by the KYKL to cleanse the education system.
Moreover the outfit also took the decision to give Sunil fitting punishment for taking money from Dilip, but due to some over sight on the part of the two cadres sent to carry out the mission, Sunil managed to escape and since that day he has been a fugitive.
The attempt by Delhi police to link Sunil, a criminal masquerading as a revolutionary, with the KYKL is nothing but another attempt of Delhi to deface the revolutionary outfits, asserted the statement.
Such cheap propaganda will only boomerang on them, it said and added that except for indulging in such lies and baseless utterings, Delhi can do nothing to harm KYKL.
