MECTE celebrates Freshers' Meet

Mount Everest College of Teacher Education (MECTE) celebrated its annual Freshers' Meet at the College's Auditorium hall today.
HL Jain, CEO, ADC, Senapati inaugurated the Fresher' Meet in the presence of Dr L Vijaya Devi, principal MECTE and Gonmei Meithuanlungpou, vice principal MECTE.
Speaking on the occasion, HL Jain stated that education is a holistic development, it does not confine only reading and writing, nor to a person's degree certificates.
"Holistic development refers to 3 components- spiritual, mental and physical", said the CEO while adding that a person can be called educated only when he/she develops all the 3 components.
Dr L Vijaya Devi urged the freshers to meet the new challenges as the faculty is there to assist them in all possible ways to make sure that their training could be a memorable one.
Gonmei Meithuanlungpou lauded the freshers who have taken the decision to become a teacher.
Appreciating the students who have come to train themselves to be the best teachers in the country, the vice principal urged them to choose what kind of teacher they wish to become.
"55% of the lessons and communications to the students will be non-verbal education, 33% of the teaching will be based on communications like tone, accent, pronunciation, English and only 7% of communication to the students carries for words", said Gonmei while adding that a teacher should play the role of a gardener.
"Mr & Miss Freshers" competition, musical extravaganza with guest artists from Imphal including Hamom Sadananda, Rani Sharma, Uttam Mayanglambam and Karnajit Mutum marked the event.
