Imphal, October 20 2012:
The Joint Students' Co-Ordination Committee, a conglomeration of six student bodies of the state namely AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, SUK and SWAK, has signaled the need to bring out a long term policy of the education system in the state.
Briefing media persons at the head office of KSA here today, Longjam Umakanta, convener of JSCC, said that the appointment of IPS officer Potshangbam Dhanaklumar as Chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, on deputation is indeed surprising and pointed out that the Chairman of the Board has always been taken over by academicians and not individuals from police administration background.
Umakanta further stated that the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur has not been able to provide the text books at the right time to the students for the last few years.
As such, to provide the text books in rime to the students, the Board should complete printing of the text books by December this year.
Moirangthem Angouba, member of JSCC, who was also present during the press conference, observed that an individual to be deputed as Chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, he/she should have been in a position equivalent to Director of Education (S) or in the post itself and if it is an appointment on promotion, he/she should have served as a Secretary for not less than 5 years or a College Principal or a Senior grade Lecturer.
