Governor, CM greets people on Durga Puja

Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Durga Puja Festival which falls on October 23 .
In his message, Governor Gurbachan Jagat said, "Durga Puja with all its glory and euphoria has arrived again to the delight and reverence of crores of Indians, eclipsing religion, caste, creed and language.
This festival especially in the eastern region of the country has been very popular and has been able to reinforce emotional integrity among the various people of the country." Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, in a separate message, said that the Durga Puja Festival symbolizes devotion to Goddess Durga and the triumph of truth, righteousness and virtue over evil.
The Chief Minister wished the festival to inspire us to work for unity and well being of the state and promote peace harmony among all sections of the society in the state for a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur.
President of MPCC Gaikhangam and MP Dr.Meinya have extended Durga Puja greetings to the people of the State.
Both the leaders wished for restoration of peace and tranquility in the state with the coming of the festival which signifies rooting out of all evils from the society.
