In a bid to preserve the cultural heritage and musical instruments of various communities in the state, Tribal Museum and Research Center (TMRC) and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal would display various indigenous musical instruments at the ongoing musical exhibition being held at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda on 28th of this month.
Representatives of various tribes like Aimol, Chiru, Tangkhul, Maring, Kom, Anal, Chothe and Mao have arrived at the venue for the big day.
Speaking Hueiyen Lanpao, Yumnam Gyaneshor, Director of TMRC said that some of the indigenous musical instruments are almost at the verge of extinction and it is very important to preserve and promote them.
Observing that majority of the young people don't know how to play indigenous musical instruments today, Gyneshor pointed out that with the advent of modernization, some of the musical instruments for hilly people in the state like Gosem, Rosem, Sanata and Saringdar are becoming obsolete and remaining as mere stuffs in some museums.
