Imphal, February 01 2014 :
In stark contrast to some Muslim organizations which have resolved to boycott BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during his election rally in the State on February 8, the Meitei-Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) leaders from various Muslim dominant Assembly Constituencies of the State gathered at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh located at Nityaipat Chuthek here today to denounce the boycott call.
Talking to media persons at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh, National Executive Member of BJP Maulana Abdul Salam said that some Muslim organizations of the State have decided to boycott Narendra Modi in their own vested interest.
The resolution was taken by just five/six persons at Hotel Classic, North AOC while celebrating Congress candidate Abdul Salam's nomination to the Rajya Sabha.
They were simply trying to please the Congress leaders in order to get something beneficial in return.
He further said that majority of the Meitei-Pangal people want Narendra Modi to campaign in the State.
The narrow-mindedness of some people cannot tarnish the whole of Meitei-Pangal community.
There is no question of boycotting Narendra Modi's election campaign in the State.
Maulana also asserted that BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is not communal.
He cannot be blamed for the Gujarat riots as he has already been given clean chit by the court.
Modi has taken up great developmental works for all people in Gujarat.
He is a secular national leader and everyone should welcome him in the State, the National Executive Member added.
The Meitei-Pangal leaders from Sangaiyumpham, Kshetrigao, Keirao, Lilong, Wabagai, Mayang Imphal and Kwakta said that more than 20000 Muslims would attend Narendra Modi's public meeting.
The resolution of some people should not create communal misunderstanding in the State.
President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba said that separate seats for about 5000/6000 Meitei-Pangal leaders would be arranged at Modi's meeting venue.
Many Muslim leaders have expressed willingness to support Narendra Modi, he added.
