Training on handloom designs starts

A training programme cum exhibition on the theme 'Integrated Design and Technical Development' organized by Maheikol Ideal Training Institute, Bishnupur under the sponsorship of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has begun from today at the conference hall of RCDS, Bishnupur.
The inaugural function of the training programme which would continue till July 31 was attended by N Sarat, Manager of Rural Bank, Nambol as Chief Guest; L Khomei, General Manager of DIC Bishnupur as President; T Rollee Vareishim, Assistant Director (Handicrafts) O/O The DC (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India as Guest of Honour.
Delivering key note address, W Sunibala, manager of Maheikol Ideal Training Institute stated that the institute has been imparting various training to people and striving hard to enable students of the institute to excel in their works.
She explained that the exhibition is being organized on market test trial with 10 export handicraft items to be displayed.
The institute has also been trying to exhibit 40 bedroom items as well.
N Sarat exhorted artisans and NGOs to take up projects based on handicrafts as this will help in raising economy of the State.
He also assured that the Rural Bank Nambol Branch will extend all possible help in this regard.
T Rollee Vareishim informed that a sum of Rs 500 will be given to each of the trainees who successfully completed the training programme and appealed to those who do not have bank accounts to open their respective bank accounts at the earliest as the amount transaction will be done through bank accounts only.
