State ready to face any situation, asserts Minister

Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan on Thursday claimed that the state government is ready to face any situation arising out of the 4th wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
He also said that the government will soon make necessary arrangements for providing free precautionary doses of Covid vaccine to people in the age group of 18 to 59 years.
Attending an interaction programme with officials of Family Welfare Services held at the conference hall of the directorate office here on Thursday, Dr Ranjan said that the government is taking up all necessary measures to mitigate the issue of Covid-19 and closure of educational institutions is one of the first steps to contain the contagion.
While pointed out that the union cabinet had recently announced administration of precautionary doses of Covid vaccine to people in the age group of 18 to 59 years for a period of 75 days, Dr Ranjan stated that in sync with the centre's decision the state government has also taken up necessary measures to roll out the same policy from Friday onwards.
Expressing concern over the low vaccination rate in the state, he appealed to the people of the state, who are eligible to get the vaccine to get their remaining doses and also urged the public not to fear about getting the vaccine while assuring that it is completely safe.
The minister then called upon the staff of the department to make the department's demographic evaluation cell fully functional as proper data pattern is necessary for planning.
He also stressed the need for better coordination between health services and family welfare services in order to provide better services to the public.
Emphasising the importance of proper record maintenance, the minister asked the senior officials of Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, and Family Health Workers' Training School to submit detailed reports.
He also informed the gathering that a DPR has been prepared for re-construction of the department's building and assured of doing the needful to improve the department.
Family Welfare Services director in-charge Dr Dihe Mao, State Immunization Officer Dr T Manihar and other staff also attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Directorate of Family Welfare Services has notified that as per the directive of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, precaution dose vaccination for 18-plus population will be made available in all government Covid vaccination centres (CVC) from July 15 a period of 75 days free of cost.
Further, the Directorate informed that all those who have crossed 6 months from the date of 2nd dose vaccination are eligible for the precaution dose and instructed all districts to make necessary arrangements and start the precaution dose vaccination of the eligible age group as specified.
On the other hand, Imphal West chief medical officer S Priyokumar Singh has informed that in view of the increasing number of Covid positive cases, UHC Singjamei MO in-charge Dr N Haraba has been designated as DNO-Covid Admission over and above his normal duties.
The CMO also advised medical officer in-charges of all health facilities of Imphal West district to identify one Medical Officer and one ANM/GNM each for the Health Facilities to monitor, supervise and report all the Home Isolation cases.
The CMO further informed the public that Help Line number 6009918334 may be contacted for any Covid related queries for Imphal West district.
