Imphal, June 02 2020:
Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) has expressed concern over the growing COVED-19 cases in the State.
"It is indeed very concerning as the disease poses a series threat and could wipe out a small population like ours in case the containment work fails", said IPAK in wake of the grim situation and the rising number of positive case.
IPAK further maintained that the association has come across incidents where some private establishments/companies had deducted or salaries from the employees registered even though Ministry of Labour and Employment had announced that the government will pay EPF contribution for employers and employees for such establishments with up to 100 workers of which 90 per cent earn less than Rs 15,000 each per month for three months from March to May in wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
IPAK demanded such establishments to refund in case they had deducted EPF contribution, knowingly or unknowingly from the salary of the employees.
IPAK also urged all individuals, micro finance and other institutions from collecting daily/weekly interest or loan amount as people are having a hard time due to the lockdown induced by the COVID-19 .
