Nemcha Kipgen streamlines food provision at IQCs in Kpi

As part of her continuous efforts related to COVID-19 in Kangpokpi and Senapati District as Minister in-charge of the two districts for COVID-19, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen in a joint meeting at Motbung under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District (KIKD), centralized food preparation and delivering at various Institutional Quarantine Centres within Motbung area.
Food provision including cooking, delivering and the services apart from other issues have always been the complaints of inmates at quarantine centres within Motbung area especially at IGNTU Institutional Quarantine Centres (IQC) for the past few days.
Considering the unwanted and unexpected situation likely to surface, Nemcha Kipgen intervened following the request of KIKD to streamline the food provision at various Institutional Quarantine Centre in the District.
The Minister attended the joint meeting initiated by KIKD at Motbung Model village which was also attended by Motbung Village Authority, Motbung Area Women Association, Motbung Youth Club and other local civil bodies apart from the District Administration.
In the meeting, Nemcha Kipgen after examining the problems in the food provision suggested to centralized it.
Subsequently, food provision including catering and delivering for 700 inmates in the seven IQC of Motbung; IGNTU-RCM Makhan, Damdei Christian College, Presidency College Motbung, Motbung Government High School, Vidyalaya Sanskrit School Charhajare, St Vincent School Pangmuol and EMRS Gamnom Saparmeina, have been centralized at Motbung.
Lamminlun Singsit, General Secretary, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District assured that food preparation and delivering centralized at Motbung will be delivered timely in all the IQCs after proper packaging by the volunteers.
He also said that the civil society organizations under the aegis of KIKD have been vigilantly monitoring the situation and acknowledged the tireless efforts of the District Administration, despite of various challenges.
He further said that community participation is the need of the hour and appealed all village chiefs to step forward to help the District Administration and the State Government without any hesitation, in the larger interest of humanity and the stranded returnees.
The Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District also appreciated Motbung Village Authority, women and youth especially the village Chief, Kaisei Lhouvum, who is also the Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills for taking huge responsibility to render all possible help at the Centralized location with the assistance of the women and youth wings.
Lamminlun further said that Nemcha's initiative to centralized the food provision for the IQC will help solve the problems and grievances of the inmates at various IQCs and appreciated the Minister for her contribution towards the District.
He also said that while the District Administration will provide sufficient stuffs for food, the Motbung women and youth under the aegis of Motbung Village Authority will provide tea in the Institutional Quarantine Centres.
Furthermore, Kuki Inpi will also identify more Institutional Quarantine Centres which can be centralized at one place and make the arrangement in consultation with the District Administration at the earliest, with regard to fooding, he added.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District also appealed the concerned MLA of Saikul and Saitu to look after the quarantine centres set up in their respective ACs and address the grievances of the inmates.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District also handed over fogging machine donated by PHED Minister, L Dikho to DC Kangpokpi today and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Minister for the assistance and help.
Meanwhile, similar model of centralizing food provision at Kangpokpi DHQs has been initiated and the Kangpokpi Christian Church will take the catering responsibility for the month of June in voluntary basis while the supplies will be provided by the District Administration.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen also provided other materials to the District Administration including 5000 pieces each of disposable thermocol plates, disposable glasses, disposable spoons, standard aluminium boxes and disposable plate with divider and lid apart from 20 boxes of eggs for the Institutional Quarantine Centres in the district.
