Ukhrul, June 02 2020:
As a preventive measure against COVID-19, a bar of soap along with a soap-dish was distributed to every house in Talui village of Ukhrul district.
The Talui COVID team requested all the 800 households to keep the soap outside each house on the porch as a reminder to any person coming to the house to wash their hands before measuring.
Vareiwung, a member of the Talui COVID team said that washing hands before entering and touching anything inside the house may be the safest and cheapest preventive measure which also conforms to the guidelines issued by international and national front.
He also informed that the items were procured from funds raised through an impromptu crowd funding.
Medical kits including 4 PPE sets, face shields, sanitizer sprays, masks and boxes of hand gloves were donated for the safety of the local volunteers.
While lauding the efforts of the Government in running the quarantine centre at Talui village, the COVID team has appealed for more Government intervention in terms of providing security personnel at the centre, posting of adequate medical staff as well as supplying basic medical kits to volunteers.
