Organic ginger sale

Metal Scrap Trade Corporation (MSTC) Ltd, a Central Government enterprise has just bought 1000 metric tonnes of gingers produced in Pherzawl district.
An MoU for buying and selling of organic ginger was signed between MSTC Ltd and representatives of the farmers of Pherzawl in the presence of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Th Shyamkumar and other Department officials at Manipur Secretariat today.
VL Keivom of Pherzawl District Agro Producers Development Society and MSTC Ltd Guwahati Branch Manager Soukat Das signed the MoU.
Th Shyamkumar said that the positive development came after a ginger festrval was successfully organised at Pherzawl by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) and farmers' associations of Pherzawl under the aegis of the Department The Minister said that the ginger produced in the district is of good quality and is void of any artificial fertilisers or insecticides but the farmers have been facing difficulties in marketing their products due to lack of proper channel and exposure.
Farmers of Pherzawl will get around Rs 1.90 crore (Rs 19 per kilogram of ginger) as a result of the MoU.
Lauding the farmers and the officials of the Department for the success, Shyamkumar said that today's event is a step towards becoming self reliant.
Horticulture and Soil Conservation Principal Secretary JC Ramthanga, Director K Kipgen and other officials were also present at the event.
MSTC Ltd bought the 1000 metric tonnes of ginger through e-auction.
The company deals in buying and sale of agricultural produces through its web portal known as e-Rashtriya Kisan Agri Mandi.
