Imphal, June 01 2018:
The KNO/KRA has raised strong objection against imposition of the nomenclature 'Thadou' in the names of other tribes belonging to Kuki-Chin group.
A press release issued by KNO/KRA publicity secretary Th Misao pointed out that Kangpokpi district is inhabited by different communities and ethnic groups and imposition of a particular tribe's nomenclature on all by office staff of Kangpokpi DC is illegal and highly offensive.
Kuki-Chin tribes have their unique ways of tracing their lineages through their own progenitors.
All concerned should take note that Thadou, as a progenitor, cannot represent all the clans belonging to the Kuki-Chin group, it said.
Saying that KNO/KRA represents all the clans and tribes of Kuki-Chin group, Th Misao asserted that the outfit is duty bound to protect the interest of all clans and tribes.
It said that befitting action would be taken up against individuals/staff of Kangpokpi DC office if they do not stop imposing the nomenclature Thadou on people of different tribes/clans.
