Ukhrul, September 02 2021:
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) strongly reacted against the Congress leader Jairam Ramesh statement on mismanagement of urea by State Government that has misled the hill people at large.
TNL president Hopingson A Shimray said that the charges of the National Congress leader implies that hill people are lawless and are freely practising poppy plantation without abiding by the law of the land and that the State Government is promoting such illegal activities.
The unsubstantiated statement of Jairam Ramesh, which has tarnished the image of the hill people is not acceptable, stated Hopingson.
He also informed that several hill leaders along with high dignitaries, DCs and SPs of all hill districts on February 25, 2021 took a pledge to do away with poppy cultivation in support of the War of Drugs campaign in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The TNL reminded that the people of Ukhrul and Kamjong are not lawless society, asking the political leaders to establish the facts first before hurling derogatory remarks to gain political mileage.
