Bishnupur, September 02 2021:
The CI College Students' Union (CICSU), Bishnupur has called for a 48-hour total shutdown in Bishnupur district from 5 am of September 3 .
A press release issued by CI College Students' Union informed that the total shutdown was called as a protest against the Government's failure to meet the repeated demands of the union to send replacement teachers to the College and initiate against the teachers who have yet to join the College till date.
It may be mentioned that the CI College Students' Union had earlier condemned the transfer of a History Department teacher, Dr Bhabananda Singh from CI College in Bishnupur District.
Dr Bhabananda Singh was transferred from CI College as per an order issued on August 7 by the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
Two more teachers from Botany Department and Geography Department have also been transferred when the number of teachers in the college was already insufficient.
The students body had also repeatedly urged the concerned authority to intervene in the matter and take actions against the teachers who were sent as replacements to the college and have not joined the College till date.
The CI College Students' Union further mentioned that all medical and religious related activities would be exempted from the purview of the shutdown.
