TPR dips further, fatality rises as state logs 299 new cases

The state witnessed further decline in the daily positivity rate on Thursday even as the government bulletins reported 299 new cases out of 3943 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.58 per cent as against Wednesday's 8.24 per cent.
Kamjong (16.7 pc), Tengnoupal (14.3) and Ukhrul (12.8 pc) recorded double digit daily positivity rate while Imphal East, Imphal West, Tamenglong and Bishnupur district recorded single digit, yet high positivity rate.
On the other hand, fatality count saw a sudden spike as Thursday reported the highest fatality count in the last 12 days with six Covid-19 deaths against 2 deaths recorded on Wednesday.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (1), Imphal East (2), Senapati (1), Chandel (1) and Ukhrul (1) .
The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1790.Out of the six victims, two did not have any co-morbid conditions, two had first dose vaccine and one had second dose.
So far, 92 vaccinated in dividuals, including five who had both doses, had died of Covid-19.The active caseload reduced to 3320, out of which 1057 (31.84 per cent) are in home isolation, 1005 (30.27 per cent) in CHICs, 703 (21.17 per cent) in CCCs and 555 (16.72 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 120 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 189 are on oxygen support and 48 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 175, 33 and 18 patients respectively.
At the same time, 13 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday evening, 472 beds including 87 ICU/HDU beds available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Wednesday evening 2852 beds were available in different CCCs, and 359 beds (18 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 85,102 positive cases and 1416 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 2147 new cases and 23 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 299 new cases (154 male & 145 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (22), JNIMS (34) and other testing centres (243) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (59), Imphal West (139), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (11), Kakching (5), Ukhrul (25), Churachandpur (24), Chandel (2), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (9), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1), Pherzawl (1) and Kamjong (3).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
Jn the last 24 hours, 361 patients were discharged from home isolation (186), RIMS (10), JNIMS (11), CCCs (86) and CHICs (68) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,14,502 (general population - 1,10,381 and CAPF personnel - 4,12l).Number of recovered cases is 1,09,392 (general population - 1,05,300 and CAPF personnel - 4,092) and number of active cases is 3,320 (general population - 3,296 and CAPF personnel - 24).The recovery rate is 95.54 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1061 D-type and 300 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
A total of 9134 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday following which the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,89,914 including 3,50,948 fully vaccinated people.
The total number of people eligible to get the second shot of Covishield as on Wednesday is 4,35,172 but nearly 85,000 eligible individuals are yet to get the second dose of the vaccine.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,815), Imphal East (25,440), Thoubal (9149), Churachandpur (9651), Kangpokpi (2635), Tamenglong (3156), Bishnupur (8732), Senapati (2083), Ukhrul (2315), Kakching (6212), Chandel (2165), Noney (999), Tengnoupal (1014), Jiribam (1007), Kamjong (714) and Pherzawl(415) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (595), Imphal East (419), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (183), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (128), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,900 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,571 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,92,744 tests per million population against the national average of 3,76,027 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3943 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.58 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.40 per cent.
