Imphal, September 02 2021:
Hitting out hard against the government for alleged failure to provide adequate urea to farmers in time, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has demanded the agriculture minister to accept his incompetency and resign from the post gracefully.
In a statement, MPP vice-president Dr S Ibomcha contended that the government has failed to provide urea to the farmers of the state even after the end of August and this has caused the farmers immense hardships, who are already facing difficulties due to scanty rainfall.
He also accused the minister and MLAs of prioritising their near and dear ones while distributing fertiliser.
Even though the CM assured of distributing urea to the farmers within a week, several farmers are still waiting for their turn to get urea from the government.
Many are forced to buy urea at Rs 1200 per bag since they could not wait any longer, Dr S Ibomcha said while calling the agriculture minister an incompetent person.
He also charged the BJP government of turning a blind eye to the plight of the farmers, and demanded the government to frame a state agriculture policy to address issues related with farmers in future.
