Imphal, September 01 2012:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) today slammed the state government for being part of the tripartite talk with UNC and India government over the demand for an Alternative Arrangement of administration for the Naga inhabited areas outside of government of Manipur.
In a statement issued by its Secretary in-charge of Information and Public relations Ngangom Deva, UCM recalled that the state government had made its stand clear that it would walk out of the talk if the condition for an Alternative Arrangement is ever brought up during the tripartie talk of UNC and Centre.
However, contrary to its stand, the state government participated in the talk yesterday although it was all about the demand for Alternative Arrangement of the Nagas.
If the state government is committed to safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, it should have solved the issue with UNC within the state.
However, participation of the state government in the talk has created a sense of distrust in the mind of the people over the ability of the state government to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
